[hands clasped in front with a smug look on my face]
petrified wood.
…right?
You win! First to answer with the right answer. We have one that we polished, and my husband (the geologist) doubts me, but doesn’t refute the fact that it might be a wannabe dinasaur. We have quite a few ‘eggs’ on our land, all with a different colored center—much like a yolk.
Um, it looks like wood to me. 😦
I am no good at these games!
Stay inside and fail to observe the beauty outside, I doubt it, Homie! You are far too worldly for that. Ummm… you don’t do puzzles? Not even cross words? Okay, well maybe not ‘cross’ words, but ….
You were right, Kirizar about the petrified wood. Dang, I went to your site and it shows I’ve been following you, but I’m not receiving notice of your posts. Need to figure that one out.
Most likely it is some weird thing I have done. I keep finding ways for my site to mess up. I am just talented that way.
i was so proud to recognize petrified wood and so disappointed to discover that, as usual, I was slow off the mark in revealing my knowledge. My dad used to say I could be an Olympic runner if only I didn’t stand and watch my competitors take off long after “go” had been shouted. I’m enjoying your contests.
Irina, I’m having so much fun with these, I think I’ll keep doing them. First, I promised Andrea Pearson to do a book review for her newest and delightful book. That done, I hope to post a new challenge tomorrow.
Here’s a hint. The little guy was found on our Arizona property and the big one found on a neighbor’s property and given to us.
Helen and Love, thanks for the likes, but aren’t you even going to try guessing what it is?
ooh, pick me, pick me, I know, I know!
Maggie, I knew you’d know. I pick you. Spill!

Joey, you guessed right—it’s petrified wood. What’s that about not good at these games? You should be 🙂
OH WOW! What do I win? 😛
A bowl full of ♥s. This is fun. Hope you keep playing.

Pam, that was my answer too!!! But I only know the Chinese word!!! That’s my story… ha ha .. 😉 Helen
I wouldn’t be able to read the Chinese word, but I’l love to see it, Helen.
I guessed right! I just wasn’t first. I recognized it from having lived in Mesa! 🙂
Cool, we were neighbors. Got a new one coming up (maybe tomorrow). It’s not as common, but we found it on the old highway going to Lake Roosevelt.
They both look like petrified wood to me. So, I haven’t a clue. Some sort of sandstone?

My first laugh this morning. Thanks, Beulah. I may be posting another one this morning, but it’s a tough one. Hope you guess it.
A trunk?… I didn’t read the comments… Did I guess?… 😛
Cool post!. Best wishes, always, Aquileana 😀
You guessed right. A trunk and a limb—both petrified.
Before reading the answers I guessed right…but I didn’t know it was petrified.

Hey, maybe you’ll write a poem about it.
I’m glad to hear you’re having fun posting photo puzzles. Well, it’s fun trying to guess, so keep posting them.
I’m late as well. It’s petrified wood. What it’s scared of I haven’t a clue. ❤
I guess that old saying, better late (forgot how that goes). ♥
……. than never ? 😀
